important? - UNESCO?

Gender parity in education is important
because:
Education is a fundamental human right for all, girls and women
included.
Educated girls have more life choices and opportunities to participate
in community life and decision-making.
Educated women are more likely to send their children to school,
especially their daughters.
Educated girls tend to marry later and have fewer, healthier and
better-nourished children. Every additional year of female education
reduces child mortality by 5 to 10 percent.
Educated girls can protect themselves better against HIV/AIDS.
Educating women is the best investment for reducing poverty and
improving health and social well-being.
Educating girls’ yields the highest return in economic terms.
Countries in sub-Saharan Africa that have not sent enough girls to school
over the past 30 years, now have GNP’s 25 per cent lower than if they had
given them a better chance.
Educated girls have greater wage earning opportunities.
Countries that fail to educate girls are not availing of their nation's full
potential.
