Ansel, 2nd Year Student:

LITHUANIA - SEXUAL HARASSMENT PROVED
FOR THE FIRST TIME
The fact was proved by the Lithuania
Equal Opportunities Control Service. As ITAR-TASS was informed by the Service
head, Aushrine Burneykene, guilty of harassmet, was officially warned.
The investigation began after the
construction firm Personnel Manager addressed the Service, who claimed that her
boss offered her the job in exchange for sexual relations. The declarant
presented record of the conversation, plus evidence about her colleague.
Previously, analogous appeals to the
Service remained unproven.
According to the results of the
research conducted in 2006 by sociologists of Vilnius University, 21% of women
and 21% of men faced sexual harassment at least once a year.
