Hong Kong’s women and girls are undervalued, discriminated against, victims of domestic violence and exhibit one of the highest suicide rates in the world. To improve the lives of these women a better understanding of their plight is needed.
This benchmark study provides a comprehensive literature review and analysis of research, published between 1999 and 2004, that pertains to females in Hong Kong. It reviews 16 topic areas including violence, leadership, aging, social welfare and poverty, self-perceptions, and work place roles.
