Maud de Boer-Buquicchio re-elected Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe today re-elected Maud de Boer-Buquicchio (the Netherlands) as Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, the pan-European human rights Organisation. It is her second five-year mandate in this post.

“I see myself as an Ambassador of Council of Europe standards, and I shall devote the next five years to reinforcing the work on the creation of a genuine European legal space to protect and promote the human rights and democratic achievements of Europe. My special focus will be on the protection of the most vulnerable groups and the fight against all forms of violence in society” said Maud de Boer-Buquicchio after her re-election.

Maud de Boer-Buquicchio is a lawyer and has worked at the Council of Europe since 1969. Prior to her election to the post of Deputy Secretary General in 2002 she was Deputy Registrar of the European Court of Human Rights.
