If by blocking the site of the Campaign, one of the aims of
officials is to ensure a decline in our readership, we have to

Bandari Sometimes I can hear her voice, like right now, a coarse and
low voice. And another one like mine that says, “Leila, read me a poem.”
Then with a voice not so captivating but certainly pleasant, she would
recite a poem for me. Me who liked her. Last night after many years,
I dreamed of her again; of her turmoil when she would try to hide it
from me. I said, “Leila, read me a poem” and with a pleasant voice, she
read for me who liked her. and I was (...) read

Change for Equality: Last year’s
commemoration of the 22nd of Khordad (June 12th, 2006), in the form of a
peaceful protest in Haft-e Tir Square, which was organized to mark the
day of solidarity of Iranian women, was witness to an important and
historical development in the 100 year history of the Iranian women’s
movement. The social environment of that time had, for a number of
reasons, suffered from relative inactivity and disorientation and
rendered women’s rights and civil society (...)read

Sholeh Shahrokhi The year 2006, despite all of its conflicts and
tensions, was a remarkably lively and dynamic year for us. A year in
which, the rate of growth for the women’s movement rapidly increased and
reached an explosive state. This was a year, in which many of the forces
from the student movement and the labor unions joined hands with the
women’s movement in a show of solidarity and faced serious consequences
including getting beaten up, and facing (...) read

Gorji-Bayani Translated by: Sholeh Shahrokhi Modernity can be
defined as critique of all that is presumed inevitable. The first
generation of Iranian modernists, however, had interpreted the concept
of modernity in a radically different way. Majority of these first
Iranian modernists were elite noble men who were sent to Europe on
personal or governmental funds, and upon return to their country of
origin, were struck by the desolate social environment they (...)

Mohammad Sharif, a member of the Iranian
Bar Association, speaks of the eradication of discriminatory
legislations against women as an intricate part of the fundamental human
rights: “We live in an era where it is no longer possible for the
individual governments to treat their citizens with no accountability to
the global community, by excusing their abuse as a matter of domestic
affair. In the age of universal humanity, universal laws are needed to
break the cycle of inequality before law (...)read
