Kuwaiti Prime Minister Affirms Support for Women's
Issues

H.H. the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad
Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah affirmed Sunday overall support for women's issues,
stressing the crucial role females play in development.
H.H. the Premier said that in a press statement
after patronizing the three-day Arab women's festival organized by women's
affairs committees in the Kuwaiti Cabinet and Arab Inter-Parliamentary
Union (AIPU) under the slogan "Arab women in the 21st century: concerns
and aspirations." He hoped such festivities would greatly contribute to
boosting women's roles and activities in all fields. On her part, head
of Kuwait's women's affairs committee Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Sabah
said Arab females have an abundance of expertise and achievements that
boosted their overall self esteem.
Addressing the forum, Sheikh Latifa said Arab Women
Connect is an organization working to boost cooperation, communication and
coordination in all fields, urging non-member nations to join the network
to boost its role and activities. While noting that the forum groups
many female figures from around the world, she stressed empowering women
to be involved in all disciplines, occupations and tasks. AIPU's Deputy
Speaker and Lebanese MP Bahiya Al-Hariri said the last decade was the age
of awakening for Arab women who have become active members in economic and
political organizations throughout Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)
nations.
Next March 8, Gulf Women's Day celebration will be
held in conjunction with International Women's Day in Beirut, she
noted.
Gulf Women's Day is originally celebrated on
February 1 in conjunction with Arab Women's
Day.
