JOURNAL OF MIDDLE EAST WOMEN'S STUDIES
CALL FOR RESEARCH PAPERS

The Journal of Middle East Women's Studies invites graduate students to
submit research papers for consideration as the JMEWS Bi-Annual Best
Graduate Student Essay.

The deadline for entries is June 30, 2007. The winning entry must
successfully pass the journal's peer review process. We expect to publish
the winning entry in the Winter 2008 issue of JMEWS.

JMEWS is the official journal of the Association for Middle East Women's
Studies, an affiliate of the Middle East Studies Association. The journal
is published three times a year by Indiana University Press. Its editorial
office is housed in the UCLA Center for the Study of Women.

Located at the cutting edge of new scholarship, JMEWS publishes research
informed by transnational feminist studies, cultural and modern historical
studies, new forms of ethnography, and the emergent intersections of
science and philosophy. The journal encourages research using innovative
theoretical, epistemological, and methodological approaches.

Entries in the Graduate Student Essay Competition should follow JMEWS
Submission Guidelines, which are posted on the Indiana University Press
JMEWS webpage (click on Submission Information):

In particular, articles should not exceed 7,500 words, and must be
double-spaced throughout. Only digital files will be considered.
Preference will be given to essays based on original research. Please sent
submissions to the managing editor at jmews@women.ucla.edu.
