An unprecedented competition to find innovative solutions to end domestic abuse plaguing families and communities around the world is now launched. “No Private Matter!” is the ninth collaborative competition for Changemakers and first in a series in partnership with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Dozens of violence prevention programs are expected to participate.
Entries in the competition will be accepted through March 28th and winners will be announced by Changemakers on May 1st.
“The Changemakers’s ‘open sourcing social solutions™’ model has been used successfully to identify over 800 innovative projects from over 90 countries on numerous themes such as human trafficking and affordable housing solutions for low-income communities,” said Charlie Brown, Changemakers executive director. “We are excited to work with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to focus on the critical issue of domestic abuse which affects us all - children, youth, elders, women, and men.”
A distinguished panel of judges will choose twelve finalists – prevention programs that are innovative and effective, have significant social impact and are sustainable. All will be given opportunities to showcase their programs, and three of the twelve will receive cash prizes of $5,000. The judges include Family Violence Prevention Fund President, Ford Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention.

“No Private Matter” is the first in a series of competitions the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will sponsor with Changemakers this year; all involve pressing health and health care issues.
