IWDA is an Australian non-profit organisation that creates positive change for women and their communities in the Asia Pacific. Our practical and rights-based projects directly address poverty and oppression in developing countries.

How Do I Apply for Funding from IWDA?

IWDA has recently updated its application process for women’s and community organisations from the Asia-Pacific region.

The International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) calls for project proposals for the 2006/2007 financial year. Please note only limited funds are available, and are restricted to Aus$15 000 in the first year. Proposals need to be received by the office no later than 15 February 2007. Please check the website for the online funding application process, which stipulates further criteria for project proposals, as well as the proposal format, www.iwda.org.au

The projects we support are located in the Pacific, Asia and Indigenous Australia. The key areas of our strategic plan which are prioritised for this funding period are:

FREEDOM FROM VIOLENCE

2007 priority:

  • Gender, peace and security initiatives, including implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325.
  • Strategies for the prevention of trafficking and sexual exploitation of women

PARTICPATION IN DECISION-MAKING

2007 priority:

  • Women, leadership and good governance (special emphasis on Pacific).

REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND HIV/AIDS

2007 priority:

  • Gender specific interventions for sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

2007 priority:

  • Micro credit projects for Indigenous Women.
  • Micro credit projects for vulnerable women including ethnic minority, widows and women with disabilities.
  • Gender and trade issues

ENVIRONMENT & NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

2007 priority:

  • Impact of climate change on women in fishery resources
  • Gender and waste management

Project proposals need to be in the IWDA project proposal format. Please ensure that you have read the details in the funding application process, and are aware of the criteria, as we will not fund anything outside our criteria and we do not want to waste your valuable time.
