On 8 November, it was reported that the Majilis (Parliament of Kazakhstan) accepted the submission of a Bill on Equal Rights and Opportunities of Women and Men, as initiated by a group of deputies. "The bill has been directed at guaranteeing equality for persons of both genders in socio- labour relations, education, science and other areas of public and political life, " Majilis deputy Elena Tarasenko explained. According to Ms. Tarasenko, there is no normative legal act in Kazakhstan creating conditions for gender equality and partner cooperation in all spheres of State and public life. (Kazakhstan Today)
