Report 2004 This year’s
Global Corruption Report focuses on corruption in the political process,
and on the insidious impact of corrupt politics on public life in
societies across the globe. It addresses the following areas in the
context of political corruption: the regulation of political finance; the
disclosure of money flows in politics and the enforcement of political
finance laws; elections – specifically vote buying; the private sector –
with a focus on the arms and oil sectors; and tackling the abuse of office
– including reducing conflicts of interest, limiting recourse to immunity,
pursuing extradition and repatriating stolen wealth.
