Stop Sexual Bullying Campaign
2006
This year
WOMANKIND are organising a range of activities during the National Anti-bullying
week and the 16 days of action. We are working with schools and young people to
create a campaign to Stop Sexual Bullying in Schools. It is our belief
that:
"Young Women have The Right to Life, Liberty and
Security
of Person."
We need your help to realise this dream and create a world of
difference where all people live without violence against women. Please get in
contact if you are interested in joining this campaign
Definition
Any bullying
behaviour, whether physical or non-physical, that is based on a person's
sexuality or gender. It is when sexuality is used as a weapon by boys or by
girls. It can be carried out to a person's face, behind their back or by use of
technology.
For example:
- Using words that refer to someone's sexuality as a general put down (like
calling something 'gay' to mean that it is not very good)
- Using sexual words to put someone down (like calling someone a 'slut')
- Making threats or jokes about serious and frightening subjects like rape
- Gossiping about someones sexlife
- Touching someone in a way that makes them feell uncomfortable
- Touching parts of someone's body that they don't want to be touched
- Forcing someone to act in a sexual way
Code of Practice
We have developed a Code of Practice that defines sexual bullying and
outlines some strategies that can be done in schools to stop it.

their voice and participate in the processs to stop sexual bullying in schools
then please contact us now.
"I think people should stop sexual
bullying because people should be treated with respect and should not touch
people in the wrong places."
(Young woman at the
summit)
"I think that sexual bullying is a cruel
and non-human thing."
(Young man at the summit)
