Welcome to Past, Present, Future - From Women's Studies to
Post-Gender Research Umeå 14-17 June 2007!
In June 1982, Umeå University in Sweden organised the conference
"Kvinnouniversitetet: Vetenskap, patriarkat, makt" ("Women's
University: Scholarship, Patriarchy, Power"). The conference was a
milestone in the development of women's and gender studies in the
Nordic countries and significant for building networks among young,
female scholars in a new, expanding research field. The Centre for
Women's Studies and the National Graduate School of Gender Studies
now invite you to the conference "Past, Present, Future - From
Women's Studies to Post-Gender Research" celebrating the 25th
anniversary of "Kvinnouniversitetet". The purpose of the
conference is to build bridges between generations of researchers in
gender studies. The conference will have two branches: The first
branch evaluates three decades of theoretical achievements in the
field. International and Nordic keynote speakers are invited to
reflect on the developments of the last thirty years. The second
branch concerns ongoing Ph. D. students' and post-doctoral research
projects in the Nordic countries. The conference welcomes
presentations of all topics in gender and feminist studies, as well
as in related research fields such as men's, gay, lesbian and queer
studies. The conference offers different forms for the Ph. D.
students to present their work:
Dissertation sessions (lectures) - Young scholars are
invited to present Ph. D. theses published in 2006-2007.
Workshops - Ph. D. students are invited to present papers
regarding ongoing research in thematically organized workshops.
Posters - Ph. D. students who have just started their
studies as well as recently graduated post-doctoral researchers are
invited to present their planned projects as posters.
Conference languages: Danish, English, Norwegian, Swedish.
Participation in the conference will be restricted and priority
will be given to Ph. D.
students. |
