WUNRN -WOMEN’S UN REPORT NETWORK

SHADO – SOCIAL HARMONY & DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION

SIALKOT, PAKISTAN

 

The WUNRN-SHADO Workshop on the Status of Women from the Viewpoint of Religion and Traditions, with special focus on Pakistan, was pleased to bring together multiple sectors of society for consideration and dialogue on the UN Study focus of the Women’s UN Report Network - WUNRN, and significant social issues and rights of women and girls in Pakistan.

 

With respect to all beliefs, and cultural sensitivity, the participants recognized needs to honor and empower women and girls, and with priorities in areas of education, health, poverty, village and community grass roots development, safety and freedom from violence, legal rights and court issues, and leadership, including through non-governmental organizations, and the important programs of Social Harmony & Development Organization – SHADO. Particular note is made of the SHADO Interactive Theatre Program which effectively brings sensitive and important social issues to public audiences of all ages and many venues.

 

It is the resolved Declaration of this WUNRN-SHADO Pakistan Workshop that such cross-sector discussions continue, to include balanced representation of both women and men in this discourse, to address comprehensive and accurate information from all parties, and to look for areas of agreement and honorable ways to consider differences.

 

It is the hope of the WUNRN-SHADO Pakistan Workshop that eventual specific Programs of Action, best involving multiple Workshop participant programs, organizations, and institutions, can lead to stronger civil society quality of life and greater status of women and girls.
