Pakistan Journal of Women's Studies - Women and
Health Issue
Pakistan Journal of Women's Studies: Alam-e-Niswan
(PJWS) solicits writings
for its Special (December 2006) issue on Women and
Health that explore the
topics related to scholarship in the field of
women's health. The editorial
board welcomes a variety of contributions that
focus on women's experience
regarding health. PJWS is calling
for papers that examine research,
services, advocacy initiatives, public
policies, and women's self-perception
of their health, particularly their
reproductive health. Possible topics
might include:
· Reproductive
health-women's narratives
· Health issues (e.g., war, violence, access to
clean water, AIDS, female
genital mutilation, and sexual exploitation,
including prostitution)
· Poverty, ethnicity, race, class and health
·
Alternative medicine (e.g., herbs, traditional systems of
medicines-ayurvedic, unani, and acupuncture)
· Women and drugs
·
Folklore about women's health
· Women's health and history
· Women and
body image
· Women's experiences of pregnancy child-birth, and abortion
·
Women and medical profession
· Traditional-birth attendants & traditional
birthing practices
· Adolescent girls' health
· Public policy and women's
health
· Representations of women's health in the media
· Women's self
perception of their health needs
