The United States House and Senate have passed Concurrent Resolutions on Juarez and Chihuahua -- so Congress is now on record condemning the ongoing abductions and murders of women and girls in Juarez and Chihuahua, Mexico. The resolution also presses the US Administration to work through the Mexican authorities to protect women and girls and to prosecute the perpetrators of violence against women! Work on the femicides in Ciudad Juarez and Chihuahua has been a priority in AIUSA's Stop Violence Against Women Campaign. Since 1993, almost 400 women and girls have been murdered and more than 70 remain missing in Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua, Mexico. While Amnesty International commends the recent measures taken by the Mexican government, the response remains inadequate. Read more. »
