WWSF Women’s World Summit Foundation is happy to share with you that 625 organizations from 115 countries joined the international coalition marking the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse last year, organizing activities and events on 19 November or supporting the Day in general.
 
WWSF invites you to join the 2006 global campaign (or renew your membership) and to encourage your partners to do the same.
 
If you wish to join the 2006 coalition to mark the World Day and take part in the next year Prize for prevention of child abuse (formerly Betty Makoni Prize), please return the attached registration form duly filled in by 1 June 2006 (registration form also available on our Website - http://www.woman.ch/children/1-register.asp. Your organization’s name will then be printed on the global poster 2006 and published on the Internet, and. you will receive our new campaign materials in due course.
 
In Geneva, the 2005 World Day was commemorated at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights by a Conference-Debate “Progress in preventing child abuse – annual review IV”, and for the second year by a Prize ceremony awarding innovative prevention activities. The WWSF Executive Director presented the four laureate organizations selected for their innovative prevention activities in 2005 (The International Child Abuse Network – Yes ICAN, USA (US$ 3000) • Asociación Afecto contra el maltrato infantil, Colombia (US$ 1000) • Muhammadan Women Welfare Society, Pakistan and Youth Net and Counselling YONECO, Malawi (US$ 500 each)) and personnally awarded Mrs. Sue Meier, Executive Director and Founder of the International Child Abuse Network – Yes ICAN winning the first Prize.
