The WIDE Annual Conference 2006 hosted by KARAT (added 17.03.06)

The WIDE Annual Conference "What 'state' are we in?" will be hosted by KARAT in Warsaw, Poland 1-3 June 2006. Its aim is to initiate a discussion between women from East, North and South on their experience and expectations regarding states and markets. The conference will start with a capacity building day, followed by a two-day international conference. For further information, please contact Emilka Daniłowicz at: office@karat.org.pl. The Russian version of Economic Literacy Kit already published! (added 17.03.06)


Rozmiar: 84925 bajtów KARAT is happy to present to you the Russian language version of the "Economic Literacy Resource Kit for CEE/CIS. Gender and Economy". The objective of the resources is to provide NGOs (and particularly gender focused NGOs) from CEE/CIS with information on the basic economic concepts and processes relevant in the region. This kit also includes training hints and exercises for basic economic literacy training, which can be provided on national, organizational and community level. The publication is a part of KARAT Economic Literacy Programme and it was produced thanks to the financial support of WIDE. Now you can download the Russian version.Last year the kit was published in English.
KARAT and CCC publish their research results (added 09.12.05)

Rozmiar: 84925 bajtów In cooperation with Clean Clothes Campaign KARAT has just published a report titled "Work Conditions of Women Working in Clothes Factories in Poland. Research Results". The publication is an effect of joint project carried out by KARAT and CCC in 2004 and 2005. It presents the results of the research aimed at monitoring observance of workers rights and working conditions standards in garment industry in Poland. The research and publishing of the report was possible thanks to the funding by Women's World Day of Prayer. German Committee. The report is already available online, both in English and Polish.
Rebirth of 'Fair Play' (added 08.07.05)

Rozmiar: 84925 bajtów After a three years break, a new issue of 'Fair Play' has just been published!. This Gender & Development Magazine of KARAT Coalition is produced by Bulgarian Women's Alliance for Development (WAD). This time Fair Play is published as a part of the project: Labour Market and Entrepreneurship - Overcoming Gender Stereotypes and therefore it focuses on the issues related to women's employment and entrepreneurship mainly in 10 new EU members states and 2 acceding countries. The new Fair Play is already being distributed. If you are interested in getting a copy of the magazine, please contact WAD.

EU New Financial Instruments - Gender Perspective needed! (added 08.07.05)

A delegation representing major gender equality networks and organizations from CEE/CIS region, including KARAT, met on June 13-15, in Brussels to deliberate on current changes in EU policy towards their countries. The delegation, which was supported by UNIFEM, met with Members of the European Parliament and EC Officials to convey several concerns related to the new EU Financial Instruments. Discussions focused mainly on the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) and the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) as these instruments will be the framework for EU support to most countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States from 2007 until 2013. The delegation called for the New EU Financial Instruments to be amended to integrate gender perspectives.
