Al-Amal continues to provide
a wide ranging services and activities for women.
An on going programme of legal seminars by Iraqi Al-Amal Association organised in conjunction with UNECIF and other international NGO's with the aim of raising women’s awareness in terms of their rights, local legislation and its implementation, the impact of social traditions, and the empowerment of women.
In collaboration with Machreg and Megrab Regional Gender for linking and Information Programme, two training workshops in "Gender and Development", were held in Arbil on 3-6 July and in Sulaymania on 8-11 July 2000.
A significant research on the issues of women and their rights, particularly on violence against women in Iraqi Kurdistan was organized by between February and April 2000. A sample of 2350 women were covered by the research.
Iraqi Al-Amal Association and World Food Programme (WFP) carried out an Income Generating Programme for widows by establishing a "Small Ruminants Rearing Project". The fundamental objective of the project is to "save lives, to ease suffering, to promote self-reliance, self-sufficiency and the maintenance of livelihoods".
Many health services projects are directed towards the health and well being of women, such as the mobile clinic for pregnant women in April/May 2003 and the healthcare training in Najaf Province December 2003.
Iraqi Al-Amal is a member of the Women Coordinating Committee in Iraq.
