Every year, hundreds of Turkish women are killed in so-called honour killings, because they are deemed to have brought shame on their families.

Sometimes the person who kills her is the woman's own young son.

The European Union has urged Turkey to crack down on the practice, but the new Turkish penal code fails to criminalise honour killings.

Meriel Beattie reports from Turkey.
